ST. CHARLES REALTORS HEAD TO WASHINGTON D.C.
St. Charles REALTORS joined thousands of REALTORS from across the nation last week in Washington D.C. for the National Association’s Legislative meetings. While there, St. Charles REALTORS met with Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer, Sen. Roy Blunt and congressional staff members to share our issues and concerns.
We urged our lawmakers to take steps to safeguard American Homeowners during upcoming tax reform discussions. We emphasized the importance of the mortgage interest deduction and other real estate tax provisions in making homeownership affordable to the average family. REALTORS also urged Congress to pass legislation to simplify the process of refinancing student loans so that millions of young people can get out from under this debt. Congress was also urged to establish tax advantaged homeownership savings accounts. This would make it easier for potential homeowners to save for their first home.
