The St. Louis Metropolitan area ranked as one of the most affordable in the Country in a recent national survey of 27 large metropolitan areas. The survey found that in our region a home buyer with an income of $34,77.53 could purchase a median priced home in this market place. This ranked St. Louis number 4 behind Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Cincinnati. At the other end of the scale is San Francisco, where you would need an annual income of $147,996.19 to buy a median priced home.
These calculations are based on a 30 year fixed rate mortgage with a 20 percent down payment. Calculations were based on 4th quarter interest rates and home prices.
