A recent study by Redfin of the 50 largest metros showed that the St. Louis Metro ranked no. 3 in the highest percentage of home ownership among low income households. With a median sales price of $173,000, the St. Louis area has a homeownership rate of 55.5% among those households in the bottom 25 percent of income in the region. Minneapolis topped the list with a homeownership rate of 57.7%.
